Dr. Su Yun Chung Appointed Chief Scientific Officer of geneticXchange

Menlo Park, CA - September 10, 2001 - Dr. Su Yun Chung has been appointed Chief Scientific Officer of geneticXchange, a software infrastructure company that provides data acquisition and integration middleware to bioenterprises.

Widely published (more than 40 scientific papers in major journals) and a popular speaker, Dr. Chung was on the original development team for what has become the geneticXchange system. She is the co-holder of two patents, including one for the database retrieval technology that evolved into the geneticXchange system. Her work has included research in the areas of gene expression, gene regulation, structural and cell biology, biocomputing and biophysics.

As Chief Scientific Officer, Dr. Chung will provide the unifying vision between the scientific and IT communities. Her depth of experience and understanding in both genetics and computing bring a unique conception of the future of biocomputing to the partners and customers of geneticXchange.

Dr. Chung is an Associated Scientist with the Center for Research in Biological Structure, Supercomputer Center, University of California at San Diego. She has been on the faculty of the Uniformed Services University (the nation’s medical school), Bethesda, Maryland and has received grant support from the National Science Foundation for bioinformatics research. Dr. Chung has held senior fellow and research positions at the National Institutes of Health, Harvard University and Princeton University. She received her M.S. in Physics from the Illinois Institute of Technology and her Ph.D. in Biophysics from the University of Chicago.
